Servus! My name is Michelle Cacija and I’m the author of this travel blog.
I’m a 24-year-old German girl living in Vienna, Austria who loves to travel, probably just like you! Originally, I’m from Munich, Germany but moved to Vienna a long time ago. From a young age, it was clear to me that the world has so much more to offer, and I need to see it. There are countless cultures to experience, people to meet, foods to taste, and beautiful places to visit. I’ve always been curious about what it’s like to live in other places. While I was still in school, I went for a few trips here and there, but never as much as I wanted to. It really started when I began studying my bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication science, which I graduated from in August 2023. Then I did a Gap Year, which consists of traveling and working part-time. At the moment I’m doing my master’s degree in journalism and new media.
During my bachelor studies, I felt the urge to leave Vienna and do something completely different from what I had ever done before. On June 18th, 2022, at the age of 21, I boarded a flight to New York City, America. But this time was different. It wasn’t just for the travels; I decided to work as a camp counselor at a summer camp, which was a completely new and life changing experience for me. Even though I had been to America before, it felt like visiting a whole new world all by myself, which made me feel unsure at first. However, the excitement and happiness stayed with me.
This experience was the perfect opportunity to leave my comfort zone for a while, experience a new culture, live with people from different parts of the world, speak a different language, and not only get to know myself better but also strengthen my self-confidence and courage. Most importantly, I confirmed that my passion was traveling. Since then, I haven’t stopped and I definitely won’t.

So why am I even writing about my travels now? I’ve always loved reading, writing and learning about the world. That’s also why I decided to study journalism and communication science. Since I started traveling regularly, people around me suggested that I write about it. So here I am, listening to the people who know me best.
I also want to let you know that everything on this website has been experienced, photographed and written by myself. Since I finance all of my travel expenses on my own, the stories and opinions shared are truly my own. Although this blog is supposed to be a positive place, you might also read about negative events and mishaps during my travels because, of course, they do happen! Through my blog, I hope to make your travel planning easier and inspire you to visit new places on this beautiful planet. Servus and enjoy!
